In response to recent natural disasters, GE has announced a new US$2mn commitment to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need. As part of the commitment, US$1.25mn will be designated directly to support the emergency response needs in Chile; the remainder will be contributed to the American Red Cross Disaster Response Fund, which provides assistance in the critical first hours and days before and after a disaster strikes.
 
GE said it is currently working with disaster relief organizations, the GE regional business leaders and the Chilean government to determine what specific additional GE support can be provided to best complement Chile's response capacity.
