Bocamina I thermo plant to remain offline for 60 days following quake

Chilean generator Endesa Chile's 128MW Bocamina I thermo plant will be offline for at least 60 days due to structural damage caused by the February 27 earthquake that rocked central and southern Chile, the generator said in a letter to the country's securities regulator.

The coal-fired plant is situated in the town of Coronel in the worst-hit south-central region VIII.

The plant represents about 2.5% of Endesa's total generating capacity, according to Fitch ratings.

The plant was the only Endesa plant affected by the earthquake, according to the letter.

Insurance policies will cover the damage and incurred losses, Endesa said.
