The chairman of Spain's Grupo Santander, Emilio Botin, is visiting local banking unit Santander Chile and he announced a US$600mn credit line with preferential terms that will be offered in the areas affected by Saturday's earthquake.
BancoEstado extends loan payment dates in regions most affected by earthquake
Chile's state bank BancoEstado announced that clients in the regions most affected by Saturday's earthquake (Maule and Bío Bío) will be granted a 60-day period during which they do not have to make payments on consumer loans, credit cards and university loans. As for mortgage loan payments, the period is 6 months.
Santander announces special financing measures for earthquake victims
The country's largest bank Santander Chile said that its regional managers have been authorized to grant special financing to victims of Saturday's earthquake. The bank also said that credit cards would have zero payment in March.
